UNICAFÉS is recognized as a representative tool for cooperative solidarity, which encompasses various categories, such as family farming, traditional communities, and agrarian reform settlements, among others. The organization's values ​​and principles focus on people, democratic participation, solidarity, ethics, autonomy, pluralism, gender, generational, racial, and ethnic equality, a solidarity economy, transparency, inter-cooperation, and the defense of life and the environment. It also combats inequality and discrimination and defends rights. UNICAFÉS is part of the National Union of Cooperative Solidarity Organizations (UNICOPAS), which represents a political effort by worker organizations seeking to advance a new legal framework for cooperatives in Brazil and promote sustainable rural development in public policies.
